The Namosi Rugby Union on March 12-13 will host another 10s tournament at Navunikabi Village ground.

This followed their season 10s opener at Thompson Park, Navua, last Saturday, which attracted 11 clubs from the Namosi Coastal area.

The first tournament was won by the Wardens Two outfit who beat Wardens One 5-0 in sudden death.

Namosi rugby coach and former Flying Fijian No.8 Asaeli Boko said the second tournament is to give a chance for Namosi players living in the highlands, to prove themselves. This is because they could not make the trip to Thompson Park to play in the first tournament.

“The first tournament was very exciting and action packed.

“So next week we are looking forward to what players from the highlands have to offer for the new season,’’ Boko said.

“Last year Namosi had a very good season, reaching the semi-finals of the Skipper Park and defending the Farebrother Trophy five times.

“This time we would like to identify new talents and also strengthen our club competition.

“In the second tournament in the village of Navunikabi we’re hoping to see all village teams participate.”
