The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has another challenge this weekend as they try to break their winless away games jinx.
The Glen Jackson-coached side travels to Canberra to play against the ACT Brumbies side at the GIO Stadium on Saturday night.
The Drua won their first encounter 42-27 at Govind Park, Ba, last month. However, the Brumbies are on a high after their 14-10 win over the Highlanders at the Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin, last weekend.
The Drua also found their mojo by beating Western Force 24-22 at Churchill Park, Lautoka. It had been a difficult week for the hosts as their preparation was marred by the cyclone warning.
Drua co-captain Isoa Nasilasila said they held the fort right to the last whistle.
“We spoke about it a lot during the week, just making sure we’re winning those key moments,” Nasilasila said.
“ I think our last quarter we made a lot of mistakes, we played a lot in our half. I think it was good for the boys to bind together, work together. A lot of tackles, a lot of long phases that we had to defend, so full credit to the boys.”
Nasilasila said they maintained their focus throughout the week to win their last home match in Lautoka.
“We’ve had a lot of those times during the last few games where we’ve lost those key moments and we sort of got disbanded,” he said.
“We were able to just stick to our process when we made some mistakes. Then we were able to get another win after that.”
