The Fresh’et Navy women’s 7s team is hoping to defend their title at this year’s 50th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday captain Lavenia Tinai said they would take one team at a time.

They are grouped in Pool C along Loloma Height, Lilians Amazons and Striders.

“We will execute our game plans well,” Tinai said.

“We did a last-minute camp and preparation; I thank the ladies for putting their hands up, to come and defend the title.

She said that their preparation was very tough.

“Our prep was very challenging, we did a lot of sacrifice waking up in the morning, and some of the girls live right up to Nausori and two of our players are in Davuilevu,” she said.

Tinai said despite the hardship of their preparation, they have made some progresses.

She also highlighted that there are some key areas that they will need to work on, so their performance can be better at the grounds.

“We’re just worried about our defense and this is something that we will need to improve on,” she said.

The former Fijiana 7s player said that their team will reset and review their past mistakes and to improve.

She encouraged all fans and supporters of Navy rugby families to support their team.

Tinai acknowledged their Navy comrades for their support and for praying for the team.

She hails from the village of Wailotua, Wainibuka, Tailevu with maternal links in Yasawa I Rara.
