Pacific Energy has renewed its sponsorship of the Marist 7s tournament, committing $20,000 in fuel and cash as the event marks its 50th anniversary this year.

The company has supported the tournament for 14 years, continuing its backing of one of Fiji’s most recognised grassroots rugby platforms.

Pacific Energy chief executive officer Stephane Cadel said the company remained committed to supporting youth development through sport.

“Pacific Energy has been a part of Marist 7’s Rugby for 14 years now and we understand the commitment and dedication that goes into the development of sports for our youths,” he said.

Marist Rugby Club president Lawrence Tikaram said the tournament continued to grow and inspire young players.

“We are incredibly proud of how the Marist 7’s Rugby continues to grow and inspire young rugby players. This event is more than just a tournament; it’s a celebration of community, teamwork, and rugby excellence,” he said.

The tournament has long served as a pathway for young rugby talent to develop and showcase their skills.

As part of its support, Pacific Energy will also fund entry fees for one grassroots team each in the under-18 boys and girls categories.

Teams must meet eligibility criteria and register through Pacific Energy.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this event for another year and look forward to witnessing the incredible talent this tournament will produce. We would like to wish all the teams the very best for the three-day competition,” Mr Cadel said.
