The Punjas Group, one of Fiji’s leading FMCG manufacturers and distributors yesterday announced their major sponsorship to the Fijian Super Rugby side.

The sponsorship will see two brands owned by the Punjas Group feature prominently on the match day kit of the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua from the 2024 season of Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific.

The Punjas Group logo as well as the Ocean Soaps logo will feature on the match shorts of the Fijian Drua men’s kit.

As part of the sponsorship, the Punjas Group has taken over official sponsorship across number of categories ranging from food and beverages as well as soaps and detergents.

The deal will also see the Punjas Group and the Drua embark on major consumer promotions and campaigns with hundreds of match day tickets and Drua gear up for grabs.

Rajesh Punja, managing director of the Punjas Group said: “This is one of the biggest sponsorships deals our Group has embarked on, underscoring our commitment to Fiji and the hundreds of thousands of Fijian Drua fans who are also our customers.

“We have seen the spectacular rise of the Fijian Drua in just two seasons of Super Rugby Pacific. And just like our customers, we are huge fans of the team which proudly flies the Fiji flag every time they take the field.

“They play for the country, the vanua and their families, so when the opportunity came for the Punjas family to be a part of the Drua vuvale, we gladly accepted it.

“Rugby is Fiji’s national sport and the Drua is important to the people of Fiji, which naturally means they’re important to us.”

Mark Evans, Fijian Drua chief executive officer welcomed the Punjas Group to the Drua vuvale: “To have a household name in Fiji and one of the country’s biggest brands come onboard is a great show of faith in the Drua.

“The Punjas Group has been serving Fiji for 88 years and must be commended for their enormous contribution over these nine decades.

“Everything from their community projects and sports sponsorships showcases their strong roots in Fiji and commitment to our country.

“With their help, and that of our other sponsors, we will embark on another Super Rugby Pacific campaign with the aim of doing better in all respects.”

The sponsorship is for three years.
