High tempo start with multiple phases will be vital for the Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua side in this weekend’s top of the table clash against the NSW Waratahs.
Both teams are undefeated but the Fijiana Drua are on top of the table for scoring the most points (Points For).
The Fijian Drua with three wins had walked over the Rebels 66-5, 27-12 against the Reds and thumped Western Force 45-17.
The Fijianas face defending Super W champions, NSW Waratahs at the Cbus Super stadium tomorrow night.
The two are meeting again after two years the Fijiana Drua side will be going into the paddock to avenge their 20-5 loss in 2020 during their warm up game in Australia.
The Senirusi Seruvakula coached side have been ruthless in attack and defense in their previous games and game results prove this.
Heading into this weekend will be a test of character and guts for our women as they face some quality opposition in the Waratahs pack.
In their last few games the Fijiana Drua showed clarity and execution in all facets of play.
This showed the amount of time and sacrifice they put on during their work ons and clarity drills at training.
They will have to raise the intensity and keep the tempo running high to outsmart the Tahs.
The tempo and intensity will wear the Tahs out in both attack and defense once they are successful, then their try scoring opportunity will come automatically.
Building multiple-phase at the Waratahs half will create miss match and penalties during the match.
Let’s build on that consistency and continue to play smart rugby through the 80 minutes.
Interesting fact about the Fijiana Drua side is that all players know and understand their role on the pitch.
Keep that stats ticking with good running metres, turnovers and set pieces dominance.
In an earlier interview with Sun sports Nadroga rugby technical adviser Franck Boivert alluded tokeeping the Fijian brand of rugby.
“I believe we should always keep to the Fijian style of rugby,” Boivert said.
“The Fijiana Drua side played an awesome game and it was so refreshing.
“The women played with their instincts and they were terrific.
“They played like a true Fijian rugby team.”
On the Stan show ‘Between Two Posts’ with Sean Maloney and Andrew Mehrtens, Waratahs’ player Lori Cramer basically indicated they would have to tighten the game up, slow it down and not get into a fling around try fest.
