The Apia Maroons Samoa team will be making their debut in this weekend's Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament at the National Stadium in Suva. Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, team captain Ravuama Seruvakula said this would be their first tournament in the country.

"We are looking forward to experience the atmosphere of what it is like to be playing in Fiji," he said.

The 21-year-old said they are excited to play at one of Fiji's biggest rugby 7s tournaments.

"Everyone's pretty sure we are well prepared, all the boys are excited for the game this Friday and Saturday," he said.

"We are excited to play against the clubs in Fiji." Seruvakula said Fiji is renowned globally when it comes to 7s rugby.
"That is why we're excited to experience the pace of the game and we're excited to play with them.
"For us, the main reason for our players coming to compete at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s is just to expose our talents. We're coming to experience the game in Fiji, experience how fast the game is played in Fiji and then compared it with Samoa," he said.

Seruvakula urged Samoans living in Suva to come out and support them.

He hails from Navutu Village in Naitasiri with maternal links to Ta'elefaga, Upolu in Samoa.
