Tailevu Rugby Union Joe Rodan (Snr) says, it is an expensive exercise to send two teams to play in the Mamanucas.
“This is from a business point of view,” he said.
“It costs us (Tailevu Rugby) $16,000 to send two teams to play Malolo in Mana.”
To keep playing in the Skipper Cup competition, Rodan says, the Tailevu Rugby administrators have worked hard to raise the money.
“So, it is important for the boys to play here (Mana) to win. That is their job while our job as administrators is to raise the money and bring the teams here.”
Rodan said they were grateful to their supporters for standing by the team.
“Here in Mana we were told that 60% of the hotel workers are from Tailevu, so we were grateful for their support.
“Also, we would like to thank the vanua of Tailevu, every villages and Tikinas for supporting the teams.”
Rodan highlighted that whatever they have learned from game will help prepare them for the next round where they’ll meet Suva.
“It’s going to be a hell of a game. Suva currently is unbeaten and leads the Skipper Cup points table. We’re looking forward to playing against them” he added.
