He joined the Crusaders squad last month as an injury cover.
Former Fijian Under-20 winger, centre Timoci (Jim) Tavatavanawai had been training with fellow Fijians Sevu Reece, Manasa Mataele and George Bower in the Crusaders squad to prepare for this year’s Super Rugby Aotearoa.
When contacted last week, Tavatavanawai turned down the request for an interview as it was too early for him.
Like Reece, Tavatavanawai also attended Queen Victoria School. He plays for Central Club in Blenheim and Tasman Mako during the pre-season.
He also represented the Crusaders development side but he has yet to play a Mitre 10 Cup game.
