Vatukoula to improve defence

“I have been stressing to the players about the importance of discipline. It is a must and once you start to struggle in this area, then other weak areas will be exploited leading to your downfall.”

Discipline is a must when it comes to playing 80 minutes of rugby and if a team starts to struggle in that department then it leads to a big loss.

These were the views of Vatukoula senior men’s rugby head coach Emori Ratu as they prepare to host Lautoka at Theodore Park tomorrow afternoon.

“We’re expecting an entertaining match especially with this group of boys that we have,” Ratu said.

“There has been no competition for the past two weeks and we have been working on our defence.

“I have been stressing to the players about the importance of discipline. It is a must and once you start to struggle in this area, then other weak areas will be exploited leading to your downfall.”

The former Vatukoula halfback said he knows exactly what to expect from the Sugar City side.

“To be honest, the boys have shown great performance on this ground since we lost to Nadroga 17-16. We beat Nadi, but there were a few mistakes and the boys played the full 80 minutes.

“Against Nadi, the boys did their best in defence, as to what I had told them in the second half. This game too will be no different. The team has been preparing well to face Lautoka at home.”

Ratu added that fans can be rest assured about what to expect.

“I guess the fans are happy with the performance, and it is great to see them backing their team here.”

The match kicks-off at 3pm.
