Wairiki 7s Starts With 25 Games

The 2020 Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s has started earlier than scheduled.
The annual competition was set to start today at Wairiki, Taveuni.
However, 25 games of the senior teams were played yesterday.

Games organiser/coordinator, Iowane Gade, said this was to cater for the number of teams and games.
“We had started earlier than scheduled because there are so many games to cater,” he said.
“There are 40 teams in the senior and about 80 games in four days.
“It was a great start in the beautiful weather here in Taveuni.
“We are on track to finish on time as well.”
Marist 7s champions, Tabadamu and runners up, Police are also in Wairiki.
Other big guns include Army Green which features national reps Alasio Naduva, Paula Dranisinukula and Apisai Domolailai while Seremaia’s Tuwai’s FDS Barbarian Brothers has national training squad reps like Jiuta Wainiqolo, Kaminieli Rasaku and Taniela Sadrugu.
The tournament was opened by former Flying Fijians rep and Fiji Rugby Union life member Pio Bosco Tikoisuva.
The under 21, netball and volleyball competition will start today.
