The Malolo rugby team hopes to defend the Skipper Cup and also take home the Farebrother Trophy this year.
Captain Emanueli Bari said while this would not be an easy task, his side is ready for the challenge.
Malolo made history last year when they won their first Skipper Cup defeating Naitasiri, 41-26, in Suva.
“We will not take teams lightly,” Bari said during the Skipper Cup launch on Saturday.
“Our main goal is for a back to back win and also win the Farebrother trophy.
“We know this will be a great year for us and we’re calling our fans, vanua of Lawa and supporters to back us for another season.”
The Skipper Cup competition kicks off on August 1 where Malolo will host newcomers Taveuni.
“We have only a few players who were part of last year’s squad, there are a lot of new faces who are blending in well.”
“It is a young team; most players are under 30-years-old.
“It has been a tough year for us but preparations have been going on well.”
