The Masti Arts & Dance Group concluded their 2025 performances with a lively Christmas show at TappooCity Suva, entertaining families at the Food Court yesterday.

Director Amit Chand said the group accepted TappooCity's invitation to perform in the spirit of giving back to the community.

“A lot has happened, so it’s a time for people to come together, get together, and just be happy and just have a moment of happiness and away from all their troubles and just enjoy,” Mr Chand said.

The group, which has been entertaining Fiji for 17 years since forming in 2009, currently has 14 dancers ranging from high school students to working professionals.

Dancer Shivneel Naidu, who has performed with Masti for six years, said the creative industry in Fiji needs more support.

“The creative industry in Fiji isn’t as big as what everyone should expect it to be, we’re a small country, so the importance for us then becomes that there's emptiness, there’s a space for it to exist and grow,” Mr Naidu said.

After a two-year break, the group restarted in July and has been adding to Fiji’s creative landscape.

Their performance featured various dance styles and genres, including Bollywood numbers.

The group plans a mass recruitment drive, hoping to expand from 13 to 30 members in 2026.

“Merry Christmas, keep dancing,” Mr Naidu said.
