Young people from across Fiji will gather in the capital this Sunday for the Ecumenical Youth Resurrection Sunday Programme 2026, hosted by the Fiji Council of Churches (FCC).

The programme, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Policing, Government and the Fiji Council of Social Services, will be held under the theme “You Are God’s Beloved”, promoting the message of Faith, Family and a Drug‑Free Future.

FCC said the event aims to encourage young people to recognise their value and purpose while taking a united stand against the growing challenge of illicit drug use in Fiji.

Activities will commence with a Youth March at 2pm, beginning at the Suva Flea Market and concluding at Sukuna Park.

The march will be followed by a vibrant ecumenical programme featuring worship and praise, youth testimonies, motivational speakers, creative expressions including spoken word, dance, drama and music, as well as a united prayer for Fiji.

An FCC spokesperson said the Resurrection Sunday programme is both a celebration and a call to action.

“This Resurrection Sunday is not only a celebration of Christ’s victory over death, but a reminder of God’s unfailing love and a call for our young people to rise above the challenges facing them today,” the spokesperson said.

“Through faith, strong family values and collective action, we believe a drug‑free future for Fiji is possible.”

The FCC said the initiative reflects its commitment to Christian unity and empowering youth as agents of positive change in their communities.

Youth groups, church communities, families and members of the public are invited to attend and support the programme, which forms part of wider faith‑based and community efforts to address the social and spiritual impacts of drug use in Fiji.
