2025 Sugarcane Farmer Awards return with big backing
Reserve Bank of Fiji and Capital Insurance lead sponsorship drive to honour over 10,000 hardworking cane growers nationwide.

The Reserve Bank of Fiji and Capital Insurance are the platinum sponsors for the resurrected Sugar Cane Farmer of the Year Awards 2025’.
This was announced yesterday by the chairman of the Sugar Cane Growers Fund, Ahemad Bhamji, during its launch by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka in Lautoka.
The platinum sponsorship for the awards is Platinum $10,000, Gold $4000, Silver $2000 and Bronze $1000.

“Over the years and as of now, towns in the west and Lautoka City continue to be directly or indirectly dependent on the sugar iIndustry.
“These awards were being planned over the past six years or so and did not eventuate.”
Mr Bhamji said this was a total stakeholder inclusive programme that included – FSC, Sugar Research Institute of Fiji, Sugar Cane Growers Council, South Pacific Fertilizer, Sugar Industry Tribunal and Ministry of Sugar Industry.
This prestigious recognition celebrates the hard work, dedication, and contributions of our sugarcane farmers.”
He invites corporates and banks to join the awards.
“We have many of the opportunities and spaces for you. There are over 10,000 growers so for platinum sponsorship, this will mean $1 per grower.”
The awards are planned to be held in all three sugarcane mill areas and the main one at national level next year.
