Minister for Sugar Charan Jeath Singh claims the Fiji Sugar Corporation is bankrupt.
This is because it has been kept afloat by government guaranteed loans. This includes other Government loans which have previously been written off.
He further claimed that FSC owed $400 million to the Government.

Despite this, the FSC was paying former staff and two Chief Executive Officers hefty salaries and allowances.
