Container/cargo volume this month is projected to increase.
According to Fiji Ports Terminal Limited, the expected increase is based on container volume trend recorded in previous years.
However, Head of Corporate Service Salesh Kumar said container volume for last month had decreased.

“This decreased compared to last year November, however remained consistent compared to last month.”
He added that a total of 26 container vessels had arrived last month offload a total of 13800 TEU’s of container.
Mr Kumar said three car carriers are expected to arrive this month.

With businesses slowly returning to some form of normalcy, Mr Kumar added that the easing of COVID restrictions would provide more trade opportunities.
He said more trade opportunities would immensely contribute towards normalising the supply chain.
“Enhancing confidence in shipping liners to call our ports. Further, the opening of boarders will increase and regularise the cargo/container volumes transitioning our ports,” said Mr Kumar.
He said 19 container vessels are scheduled to arrive in December.
