Lautoka man charged with alleged murder after drinking party assault

A man in his late 20s is expected to appear before the Lautoka Magistrate Court charged with the alleged murder of a 38-year-old man.

Police allege that the accused seriously assaulted the victim during a drinking party in Wairabetia, Lautoka, on the morning of May 14, 2026.

The victim later succumbed to the injuries sustained during the incident.

The accused has since been formally charged with one count of murder and will be produced in court as proceedings commence.

Investigations are ongoing, with authorities also looking into the possible involvement of three other suspects believed to be connected to the incident.

Police say inquiries are continuing as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged offence.
