A 25-year-old woman accused of murdering her partner in Tavua has been remanded in custody following her appearance in the Tavua Magistrates Court.

Kenona Tokasa appeared before Magistrate Timoci Qalinauci yesterday charged with one count of murder.

The court heard that Tokasa allegedly assaulted her partner, 29-year-old barber Abdul Asfat Ali, at their Tavua home on August 1, resulting in his death.

The case has been transferred to the Lautoka High Court, where it will be called for mention on September 18.

Tokasa has been remanded at the Natabua Women's Remand Centre.
