Police have confirmed that the investigation file of the tertiary student who allegedly abandoned her newborn in the Fiji National University Natabua Campus hostel toilet has been sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said investigators had managed to identify the mother, who was a student at the Lautoka campus when the incident occurred on July 27.
The baby was found after hostel staff were alerted by students who heard cries coming from a sanitary bin.
