Man arrested for allegedly posing as Police Commissioner on Viber

Investigators are urging anyone who may have received such messages to contact the investigating team on 9905226.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly circulating Viber messages while pretending to be Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu, and asking for money.

The suspect was taken into custody from Wainibuku by the Criminal Investigations Department’s Cyber Division and is being held at the Nakasi Police Station.

Police say the messages were sent from numbers 8373541 and 8369719, using the name Rusiate Tuidravu.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have received such messages to contact the investigating team on 9905 226.

Investigations are continuing.
