A flash flood warning remains in force for low lying and flood prone areas in the Northern Division.
Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima said when the Fiji Meteorological Service released the forecast on Saturday for a strong wind warning in the North, he called for a meeting with the team leaders from essential services immediately.
“We met with Fiji Roads Authority, Fiji Police, National Fire Authority and those who are part of the essential service team,” Mr Rainima said.

“The connecting roads were clear right around the island over the weekend even after heavy rain in the past few days.”
However, he said stakeholders have been informed, including Ministry of Education to inform schools that have been used as evacuation centres to be prepared.
“All necessary arrangements have been made to respond to any emergency,” he said.
“We don’t want to risk the lives of first respondents, so its advisable people make good decision and take their families to a safe place before any possible floods.”
