Police investigation into three FICAC officers continues

Police have confirmed they are still investigating a whistleblowing case involving three Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) officers.
The three officers are alleged to have leaked information about the institution to former journalist Charlie Charters.
The matter stems from February, when Charters was arrested by FICAC at Nadi International Airport on suspicion of aiding and abetting a FICAC whistleblower.

The arrest was made under Section 45 of the Crimes Act 2009.
FICAC alleged that the whistleblower breached Section 13G of the FICAC Act by divulging official information.
Last Monday, during a hearing into an urgent application by Charters seeking the release of his seven devices, Office of the Public Prosecutions acting director Nancy Tikoisuva produced a charge sheet and told the court Police had provided the charge sheet of the three officers, but were unsure of the status of the matter.
Last Friday, when queried, the Office of Public Prosecutions confirmed it had not yet received the file from Police.
