Three-year-old boy drowns in Wainibuka River

It is alleged the child sneaked out of his home to go swimming in the river.

A three-year-old boy of Burelevu Village, Saivou, Ra, is believed to be the latest drowning victim following an incident at the Wainibuka River yesterday afternoon.

It is alleged the child sneaked out of his home to go swimming in the river.

Family members began their search after discovering that the boy was missing, prompting villagers to form a search party.

The child’s body was later found along the riverbank.

He was conveyed to Wainimaro Hospital by relatives.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
