A Good Samaritan

School students should be happy that Government had agreed for them to use their blue subsidised e-Ticketing cards for six days a week. However, some students still want to use their e-Ticketing card at on Sunday. BTL last Sunday witnessed this but the driver did not accept the card and the holder was told to pay for his bus fare or get off. Another passenger offered to help and used his e-ticketing card. A real good Samaritan.

A new life

The newly installed solar freezer at Doi Village in Ono-i-lau has brought new life to the people of the island. For the past two years the people on the island have been suffering due to the huge damage made by the cyclone to their coconut plantation. They were selling sinnets and copra but the money was not enough for them to buy their needs from the village shop.

With the new freezer they will have another alternative source of income from the sea. The Ono-i-lau Fishermen Association will be keeping records of all the catches by villagers and updating the Ministry of Fisheries when the freezer is full. Payment will be made on the available funds from their association and will be refunded from the buyers arranged by the ministry. Now they can have cash from their daily catches and this has brought new life to them.

Ice plants bring happiness

The people of Moala and Cicia are looking forward to their new ice plants. They have been hearing this for a number of years and now the FijiFirst Government has promised to deliver this at the end of the month. On the 28th of this month the ice plant at Moala will be opened and on the 29th the one at Cicia will be opened. Well the fishers from Matuku are already looking forward to also benefit from this ice plant. BTL has been told they will bring their catch from the island to Moala. The islanders confirmed they will have their ice plants and they have thanked Government for delivering something they have been waiting for, for some years now.
