Top civil servants beware

If SODELPA comes into power, job contracts for all permanent secretaries will be terminated, voters were told at a rally at Namadi Heights, Suva last night. This will happen in the first 100 days.

Pay debate continues

There are new twists and turns in the debate over a national minimum wage.

From the NFP camp which is proposing $5 an hour, voters are now being told that employers can pay whatever they can afford and an NFPGovernment will top it up to $5. HOPE, which is soon releasing its manifesto, says no employer will be forced to pay $10 an hour if they cannot afford it. A HOPE Government will call a press conference after the election on the issue.

Free food attraction

In the Kalabu and Wakanisila area between Suva and Nausori, people are waiting for calls for free food and yaqona. General election candidates living there are using food, yaqona and free buses to get people to campaign rallies. There is no shortage of volunteers.
