FACEBOOK EXPERTS

Social media went viral with conspiracies about the Fijian Elections Office. Sadly, some educated Fijians also fall in this trap. A classic example was when the provisional polling station number changed from 2170 polling stations to 2173 polling stations. Instead of asking the right people for clarification, the Facebook electoral experts decided this was cooked up by FEO.

Fact: These 3 stations were the postal ballot stations. Why three? Each station should have a maximum of 500 votes. The postal votes which were in addition to the current 2170 stations had to be assigned their own stations, hence the three more polling stations? Makes sense? If not, ask the experts but not the experts on Facebook, please. The Facebook experts should stick to their day jobs.

LEAVE IT TO WORKERS

Youth leaders of a particular party do not do their party any favours by adding in their two cents into the election count process. They should sit back and let those who know what they are talking about do the job.

SEATING ORDER TALK

Discussion is likely to start soon on the Opposition seating arrangement in Parliament.

If SODELPA and the National Federation Party end up in the Opposition again, there will be some intense debate on where to sit the NFP members.

In the last Parliament they were sitting on the front bench. If some of the SODELPA members have their way the NFP members will be sitting at the back.

IT’S MORE THAN COFFEE

Coffee was flowing freely when three Party leaders - Sitiveni Rabuka, Biman Prasad and Mahendra Chaudhry met yesterday at a rather expensive hotel in Suva. Perhaps the seating arrangements were being discussed?

CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY?

Shanal Sivan (511) of National Federation Party picked up votes in polling stations where Simi Rasova (551) was expected to do well, meaning Kadavu where Mr Rasova is from, a predominantly iTaukei area.

DOUBLE CELEBRATIONS

Villagers of a Bua village have already started a double celebration. Two of their own have provisionally won seats in the next parliament.

But that will be confirmed tomorrow.

They’re also celebrating their village development by the youths. The Ministry of Youth played a major role.
