AN ENTIRE FLEET
Two forty foot shipping containers have just arrived at the Sofitel Denarau. Inside are fifty brand new Laser racing yachts which
represent half the final fleet of a hundred.
These Olympic class yachts, sailed by a single sailor, are extremely competitive and
difficult to sail well.
They are here as Fiji has been chosen for a series of regattas leading up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and
the races over the next two years will be the qualifying events for Tokyo.
Specific events will be a world masters series and a junior series and Fiji will be the centre of attention for the sailing world.
Once again Denarau has come to the forefront in promoting Fiji. The first event starts in two weeks and will be very spectacular.
