DEPUTY LEADER SAGA

SODELPA party leader Sitiveni Rabuka yesterday issued another statement on the deputy leader confusion.

Probably not satisfied with what has been released to the media so far, he made it clear that party president Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu has the final say.

But that’s got members talking again. Someone asked: “Is the position of deputy leader supposed to be advertised?”

At the Nawanawa, Nadera special general meeting on September 1, the party agreed that Ratu Naiqama will appoint an acting deputy leader for seven days before a substantive holder is appointed through the process in place.

This has not happened yet. The next question: Can he appoint himself acting deputy leader while the party calls for applications for the post?

Some members are also still waiting for the minutes of the Nawanawa meeting because resolutions approved there were rushed through.

The next couple of weeks will be interesting.
