Night water travel
The Fiji Marine authorities are telling small boat owners not to travel at night because they don’t have the navigational gear and proper lighting, particularly during unfavourable weather.
But, do they know that many of these operators prefer to travel in the dark.

They say they see better because they are guided by the white sea sprays from boats travelling in the opposite directions. They only use torches to check floating debris.
To find out just take one of the so-called Rewa River “taxis” at Nasali Landing at night and have an exhilarating experience.
Shortest meeting
The recent Fiji Rugby Union’s annual general meeting was so organised that it was the shortest so far.
Transparency and accountability were the order of the day.
Even journalists were each given a copy each of the annual report.
One hopes that the same is done at this week’s Fiji Football Association’s
Congress, where the annual report should be given to the media to publish for the
general public to know.
What devaluation?
What’s all this about the devaluation of our dollar and banks refusing to
give out loans? Well, interestingly, a shocked citizen who had paid off his home
and personal loans early this week got calls from several loans officers offering more money for him to borrow.
Fake news
Joseph Goebbels in Nazi Germany once said: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”
The perpetrators of fake news are exploiting this ploy to spread their propaganda.
Sadly, many people are getting caught up in its web of deceit and lies.
It’s happening in Fiji right now with those carrying a sinister political agenda against the government of the day.
