The Fiji National University graduation on Wednesday and yesterday has been nothing short of inspiring.

We congratulate certificate and diploma holders, undergraduates and post-graduates' holders alike for you have turned the tide for a new dawn in your professional career.

You've shifted the dial and created a new narrative for yourselves and your future.

So, it's not about proving to others what you can do, it's proving to yourself that you can become better.

And that was the essence of the Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Vilimoni Vosarogo's, speech at yesterday's graduation.

716 graduates from the College of Engineering, Science and Technology (CEST), College of Humanities And Education (CHE), Fiji Maritime Academy (FMA), and National Training And Productivity Centre (NTPC) at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

"Graduates, you want to be better - never compete against others. Just become better than who you were, yesterday!" he said.

"You are a beacon of incredible promise that will guide our nation's future to its limitless possibilities.

"As you step out into the world, be fearless in pursuing your dreams, be resilient in the face of challenges, and be compassionate in your interactions.

"Your education has not only empowered you but has also bestowed upon you the responsibility to make a difference, to your  family, community, Fiji and to the world."

On its Facebook page yesterday, FNU highlighted a couple who graduated together.

Eleni Taubale Tabua graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with Honours (First Class), while her husband, Gerard Young, graduated from the same programme but in the Upper Second Class.

Ms Tabua also received the Engineers Fiji Prize for female topper in Bachelor of Engineering.

What a great moment it must be for this couple. We can only imagine the sounds of praise from their family and loved ones in this special moment.

Ms Tabua said: "It is such a great honour to be sharing this colossal event with him.

"He has been such a great inspiration to me, always so encouraging and helpful.

"I have seen him tackle his education with patience and perseverance.

"We have been together for over 11 years now, so this has been a surreal experience for the both of us, definitely a 'one for the book' moment."

Today, another set of graduation ceremonies are taking place but this time for the University of Fiji.

Like FNU, we congratulate all those who have shone the way for their loved ones and the future generation
