It is of grave concern to Fijians because the presence of the weapons in a residential area, especially in a bedroom, raises serious questions about the safety and security of the community.

Especially in Nasinu, a booming Fijian center with educational, health, residential and industrial infrastructures.

The potential link between illegal firearms and drug trafficking is a major concern.

It can lead to an increase in organised crime, human trafficking, prostitution, and other illegal activities.

These had been proven globally.

The existence of illegal weapons or firearms pose a direct threat to the lives of innocent Fijians.

Children who are often the victims of senseless gun violence around the world. It can happen in Fiji like New Zealand recently.

The responsibility falls on authorities, members of the community and all Fijians.

Let's report any illicit drugs and illegal weapons.

Their presence can have deadly effects if left unchecked. Prevention is key, and it is crucial for everyone to work together to ensure a safe and secure Fiji for all citizens.

Global gun violence statistics are alarming with more than 600 people dying every day.

If this trend continues, it could be catastrophic for Fiji's population which to date has about 940,000.

It will take about two years to wipe Fijians off the globe if 600 are killed daily from gun violence.

Gun violence threatens our right to life. It is important for leaders to take decisive action against it now.

Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad's call for stringent border control and zero tolerance for bribery is a step in the right direction.

It is essential for our leaders to prioritise the safety and security of the nation, and to take a firm stance against those involved in the smuggling of arms and drugs into Fiji.

In the end, the safety and well-being of the people should always be the top priority. Let us work together to rid our communities of illegal weapons and drugs, and create a safer and more peaceful environment for all.

Only through collective effort and strong leadership can we ensure a brighter Fiji, where illicit drugs and illegal guns have no place.
