Let’s take a moment to honour the appointment of  Vodafone Fiji’s new chief executive officer, Elenoa Biukoto.

Being a woman and one who ascended through the ranks with her very impressive CV, Ms Biukoto is an exceptional role model to Fijian women who want to break glass ceilings in the corporate world.

This historic decision marks a significant milestone for Vodafone and a cause for celebration as Ms Biukoto becomes the first woman to hold this esteemed position in the company’s history.

Ms Biukoto’s journey with Vodafone began 15 years ago when she joined as the Manager of Revenue Assurance and Audit.

Over the years, she has showcased her exceptional leadership skills and commitment to excellence, subsequently serving as the company’s Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to her employment at Vodafone, Ms Biukoto accumulated over two decades of management experience, working for prominent organisations such as ANZ Pacific Operations and PriceWaterHouseCoopers.

This appointment is not only a testament to her exemplary track record but also highlights Vodafone’s commitment to fostering internal talent and implementing effective succession planning.

It exemplifies the company’s dedication to developing strong leadership within its ranks and ensuring strategic alignment for sustainable growth and stewardship.

Joe Taoi, the chairperson of ATH Board, emphasised the company’s dedication to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity, stating that Ms Biukoto’s appointment showcases Vodafone’s commitment to empowering women in the corporate world.

Vodafone has demonstrated that its famous slogan, Power to You, is an inclusive tagline that also focuses on empowering women.

We also acknowledge and congratulate Ms Biukoto’s predecessor, Pradeep Lal, who has spread his wings to lead Vodafone PNG.

This demonstrates the caliber of our workforce in having capability to lead corporations beyond our borders.

Not another bus accident!

The freak accident in Natabua, Lautoka, yesterday is again another cause for concern.

Two students are said to be in serious condition after the bus they were travelling in crashed into the bark of a big tree.

As Police investigate further on the details of the incident, the bus operator alleges that the driver was trying to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle.

The Police statement says, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road.

However, the accident took place, one thing is clear. The lives of people are at everyday on our roads.

The moment you get into a vehicle, your life is in the hands of the driver.

It is also the responsibility of other drivers to ensure that they always abide by the road rules.
