Dale Carnegie was an American writer, lecturer, and developer of courses in self-improvement, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.

He died in 1955. In his book 'How to Win Friends & Influence People' he wrote that being able to communicate effectively is perhaps the most important of all leadership skills.

Mr Carnegie wrote about the importance of communication in giving clear instructions and ensuring healthy relationships.

In the past few days, miscommunication has cast a shadow over Government, comprising The People's Alliance (PA) party, National Federation Party (NFP), and SODELPA.

It is shaking the foundations of their three-party coalition.

Recent controversial decisions have questioned public trust on their leadership.

The shocking dismissal of the Minister of Education, Aseri Radrodro, cited for insubordination and disobedience, has sparked debate.

Documents have emerged against the decision. Documents proved the involvement of legal channels as per directive from the Prime Minister's Office since last September.

Mr Radrodro's dismissal raises the question if there are lapses in communication channels from Government to party level, which led to his removal as a minister.

In any leadership, dialogue and cooperation are paramount.

The failure to disseminate crucial information downstream or upstream can lead to misunderstandings and break the collaborative spirit of a coalition government.

The longevity of a coalition rests on mutual respect, shared goals, and effective communication.

SODELPA'.s interference with Government decisions underscores the challenges of maintaining cohesion within the coalition.

Leadership problems can affect the political arena and the Fijian population.

With the next general election looming, decisions made today can determine Fiji's next course, especially for the three-party marriage.

It could impact Fijians.

As the nation watches, leaders must heed the warnings, address weaknesses, and be better communicators.

Leadership requires more than just authority, it demands responsibility, transparency, and a commitment to fostering the best Fiji future.

The role of political advisors, the PM's permanent secretary, and Solicitor-General's Office legal team is important in ensuring that the aging Mr Rabuka receives accurate and timely information and advice.

The country wants a government that communicates effectively and makes the best informed decisions.

It rests on our leaders.

They should uphold the ideals of transparency, cooperation, and effective communication for the future of Fiji, its children and the people.
