New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon should be praised for the good news he brought from the Land of the Long White Cloud.
When Fiji’s corridor of power has been on shaky grounds in the past two weeks, Mr Luxon’s announcement for free transit visa for Fijians into New Zealand was a good change.
New Zealand being our neighbouring country and where we have many families living there, this is welcome news.
It saves the Fijian traveller of going through the hassle to fill in application forms after another.
The free transit visa announcement into NZ is indeed a game-changer for the people of Fiji.
In the midst of political turmoil and public outcry over salary hikes for parliamentarians, this news brings a ray of hope and opportunity for the citizens of Fiji.
This visa deal not only opens up new avenues for employment and education for Fijians, but also strengthens the long-standing diplomatic relationship between Fiji and NZ. It is a move that will undoubtedly benefit both countries economically, culturally, and in the realm of sports.
With NZ being a key transit point in the Pacific region, this visa deal will simplify travel arrangements for Fijians and encourage greater regional collaboration. It is a step towards building stronger business partnerships and connections, as well as fostering a sense of community in the Pacific.
As we look forward to the implementation of this visa deal, we can expect to see a surge in support for Fijian sports teams passing through NZ, particularly for our Drua teams, rugby 7s and Flying Fijians, netball, and other competitive sports.
The potential for growth and mutual benefit between Fiji and NZ is immense, and this visa deal is just the beginning of a new era of partnership and prosperity.
This is a rare opportunity Fiji. It should be treasured.
Fijians should learn to protect and preserve it because NZ is kind enough as a big brother to restore this treatment after it was spoiled because of the past political upheavals.
Leaders and citizens should make sure not to abuse this opportunity. It is door of opportunities for us all. It should be used for national gain instead of personal.
All in all, Mr Luxon should be commended for this initiative as Fijians look forward to benefit from the positive impact it will have on their lives in the years to come.
This visa deal is a symbol of hope and opportunity for the people of Fiji, and we are excited to see the fruits of this new era unfold.
