EDITORIAL: Vodo – The New Taxi App - More Services At Your Fingertips

Vodo which is very similar to how Uber is used overseas will be a step towards transforming our taxi industry.

Like Uber, drivers will be registered on the app which can be downloaded from either Play Store or App Store.

Instead of physically flagging a cab, you get to order one through the app. You will be given an estimate of how much your journey would cost, and how far the nearest taxi is.

This is great and needs to be launched in Suva and Nadi as soon as possible.

Vodo, just like Uber, also allows for the payment of the journey to be made through a debit card or a credit card. This will be safe for those late-night travels where you do not feel comfortable making a detour to withdraw cash.

You can trust to have your valuables back if you forget them in a car.

All taxi drivers should be encouraged to sign up for Vodo and to pick their customers through the app as well. This will also ensure that those who can easily be traced hire the taxis and in case anything untoward happens, the culprits can easily and quickly be apprehended.

Uber is already very successful overseas. There is no reason why Vodo cannot succeed in Fiji.
