We live in an age with far too many unhealthy food and beverage choices and we must discipline ourselves to make healthy choices in order to live longer lives.

Lifestyle

Simon Hazelman, Savusavu

Two middle-aged men, both of whom I know well, passed away over the last couple of weeks.

Both were fit, productive gentlemen who were well known for their hard work. Both died of heart attacks. It was their lifestyle that became their ultimate demise!

We live in an age with far too many unhealthy food and beverage choices and we must discipline ourselves to make healthy choices in order to live longer lives.

At the end of the day it is what we eat and drink that determines how long we live.

MPs Picture

Tukai Lagonilakeba, Namaka, Nadi

Page 11 of the Fiji Sun 16/02 shows two separate pictures, one with Ro Teimumu Kepa seated in the front with Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, but in the bottom one she was replaced by Sitiveni Rabuka her opposition leader. She had to give up her chair and stand at the back with the pack.

One would have expected SLR being a commoner to go to the back and allow Ro Teimumu as Marama Roko Tui Dreketi and paramount Chief of the Burebasaga Confederacy to take the front seat.

And NFP’s Biman Prasad should have allowed the Turaga Tui Cakau and paramount Chief of the Tovata Confederacy, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu to seat next to her.

Where is the respect for the chiefly hierarchy Rabuka? We have certainly lost something at the forefront for our children to see and learn from our leaders.

I am also shocked as he had also publicly promised Ratu Epeli his vote and support for the Speaker’s role, but failed to give his one vote where he was not seen walking his talk. He certainly lacks credibility or simply should not promise something he could not deliver.

Supply and Demand

Floyd Robinson, Toorak

Recent reports about the uprooting of about 2000 plants alleged to be Marijuana are a cause for concern.

While most reports focus on the illegal drug and peddlers, let’s not forget the number of users.

One can infer that there are more than 2000 persons who consume the illegal drug.

It’s only just February and there may be many more secret farms in isolated areas. Sad indeed,  a worrying sign for parents and guardians. Let alone the cases of methamphetamine and cocaine busts by authorities in 2018.

In any business whether legal or illegal, there is a fundamental principle of supply and demand.
