7s defeat
Amenatave Yaconisau, Delainavesi
Fijian 7s supporters shouldn't lose hope after the loss to New Zealand and South Africa in San Francisco.

We can't win all.
We are the Olympic gold medallist, second to South Africa in the HSBC Competition, second to New Zealand in the Commonwealth Games and fourth in the RWC 7s.
We shouldn't change the team, but take into account Sir Gordon Tietjens’ advice.
Congratulations to the All Blacks 7s!
It's a hard game!
Isa, My Fiji

Dear oh dear!
Fiji could be celebrating by now.
Another four years of waiting. What happened?
My neighbours were all prepared for their firecrackers on Monday morning.
Oh my Fiji.
It’s just a game

Whenever we win all is good, including good God.
Whenever we lose someone has to take the blame.
Either it’s the referee, coach, the players or even now, the Prime Minister. What a shame.
Why is nobody blaming God’s will?
The reality is we have to change our mentality.
Be realistic. It’s just a game.
Every game is one of chance. You win some and lose some. The game is not ours alone.
Life goes on with or without a win.
Grow up, please!
Bravo Police
Ashwini Basant, Nausori
Police officers at Nausori are doing a splendid job in town with all the running around booking motorists for parking issues, etc.
Bravo, and good job. How about showing the same enthusiasm on a rainy day?
So many cars were parked on the no parking zone at the Nausori Market area on Saturday, July 21, but since it was raining no Police officers were seen doing any bookings.
Remember, rules don't change with the weather.
Viti Dolls
Neelz Singh, Lami
Congratulations to New Zealand for back-to-back wins for both 7s titles (Men’s and Women’s)
Their game plan paid off.
Enough has been said about both 7s teams, but the fact remains there was no appearance by the Viti Dolls.
The Viti Dolls were missing in action from the cheering squad.
Let’s see what the new season brings.
Better team
Wise Muavono, Balawa, Lautoka
New Zealand was the better team.
So enough already.
Secular state
Savenaca Vakaliwaliwa, Suva
Reading the headline Opposition Using Race, Religion: Poll (FS 21/7) and current comments after the Fiji Sevens men's team fourth place ranking in the recent Sevens World Cup; I believe more chaos would be upon us if our current 2013 Constitution is abrogated and we become a Christian State.
As a secular state, all Fijians are on a level playing field and Government does not consider any race or religion to be higher than the others.
Also, vacant posts are filled purely on merit with the best-qualified person given the job.
It is sad that politicians are feeding on the bias of people who think that because most top posts are held by Muslims, this Government is pro-Muslim.
Therefore these politicians use the race and religion card to put fear in the minds of Fijians to vote the current Government out.
Christians, on the other hand, are banding together and praying for SODELPA to win the next election, so Fiji can become a Christian state.
A Christian state will mean Christianity, as a religion, will be a priority, Christians will be first-class citizens while non- Christians become second class.
Sunday laws will be passed, just like after the first Rabuka coup in 1987 and Sunday will be a complete rest day for us.
Will changing the Government, the Constitution and making Fiji a Christian state eradicate race and religion issues in Fiji? I don't think so!
Some Fijians are blaming the non-Sunday keeping of both our Fiji 7s team and us Fiji 7s supporters here in Fiji and the USA for our loss and fall to 4th place.
Will we still be playing 7s rugby if Fiji becomes a Christian nation? We may not have Sunday 7s competition in Fiji if we win the rights to host a HSBC Sevens leg, but should our boys play on Sunday when they travel overseas?
How many Christians in Fiji will turn their TVs, radio and other gadgets off when Fiji plays overseas on Sunday?
In a multiracial and multi-religious society like Fiji, having a secular state or Government is the will of God because we are all equal in His sight and my race and religion should not be an issue in living a harmonious life as a Fijian.
