"Our paramount goal is to swiftly retrieve and confiscate all illegal number plates and taxi permits linked to the implicated officers" - (Irimaia Rokosawa - Acting CEO LTA).

At the very onset, LTA officers concerned in tracking down their own fraudulent officers involved in the alleged taxi scam in the Western Division, must be commended for their diligence.

For many weeks, news "from the grapevine" surfaced in Martintar, Nadi, of how easy it was to get a taxi permit.

Finally, the truth has revealed itself.

LTA is commended for apprehending its officers concerned in the alleged scam.

I have a question to ask the Acting CEO of LTA, Mr Rokosuka.

Why are there so many Lautoka taxis operating in the Namaka, Martintar and Nadi areas these days? Is this legal?

Their operations outside their designated area of service providing are taking away valuable income for our own Nadi taxi owners and operators.
