A true gentleman
Simon Hazelman, Savusavu
Former United States Secretary of State, James Baker, summed up in a few sentences the legacy of President George H.W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States of America, who passed away on Saturday.

He said that against great odds George Bush became the President of America by simply being nice to people! He said that Mr Bush was a genuinely beautiful, wonderful, compassionate, and kind human being!
He said that you won’t hear anybody say any bad things about George Bush because nobody believed bad things about him. “He knew how to reach across the aisle and he made many friends on both sides of the house.”
Mr Baker completed his statement by questioning how can we get back to that in today’s politics, and said: “isn't that a nice legacy for politicians of today to focus on!”
It is rare these days to come across a man who takes great care of himself, is strong in character, living life with integrity, honesty, empathy, and patience.

There is indeed a great need for many of us to live a gentleman's lifestyle!
147

147 is the highest break one can do in a game of snooker.
I would like to know from the Fiji Billiards and Snooker Association if any- one in Fiji has been able to do this. If not, just think of the 147 differences in votes between the Fijifirst and rest of the Opposition and keep enjoying the easy life in Fiji.
Must continue
Floyd Robinson, Toorak
Sometimes we train and plan so hard that on the field we lose sense of the basics. At the weekend our Fiji Airways Fijian 7s reps forgot to play as a team, but rather displayed individual efforts, which stood out like a sore thumb against team USA.
This is history now so let’s look forward to the next tournament where one can expect our men to display an improved performance. Sometimes we win. Sometimes we lose. Sometimes we draw. However, support for our 7s team must continue.
Be careful whom you trust

As post-election analysis continues some church leaders prophesied a SODELPA victory with Sitiveni Rabuka be- ing the Prime Minister.
There have been many wannabes, a lot of people who are self-appointed prophets with no accountability.
Although there is a sense of expectation among spiritual people, it does not justify an increase in false prophecy. How- ever, a sense of anticipation can make someone more susceptible to believe a false prophecy, especially if the speaker is a church leader.
False prophecy is the “fake news” of religion. Those who spread it are false prophets, not true prophets.
Since false prophecy is deceptive and based on lies, it cannot originate with the God of truth. Be careful whom you trust.
The devil was once a mighty angel. Beware of those whose faith is based on their own ideas, feelings and what they think is right, rather than what God says.
High risk

Mangoes, mangoes, mangoes! Oh, what a beauty.
Just walking from the bus stand to the fish market here in the Capital, you will be mesmerised by the beautiful colours that are thrown your way as a result of mango sellers piling the walkway.
The only eyesore to this is that some- times pedestrians are forced to walk on the road, which is risky, especially in this busy time of the year.
To the relevant authorities, please, better planning is needed so all are happy and safe.
Gravel it
Wise Muavono, Lautoka
There are a million and two patches along the Natabua Road. Yes, one more than the patches between Tavua and Ra- kiraki. With the uneven surface, it would be more logical to just grade the whole road and pour crushed metal.
"Gravel it" as my mate Cameron of- ten says when spraying the road after a heavy kava session.
