Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has been conferred the Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu, one of Papua New Guinea’s highest national honours, in recognition of his leadership and contribution to regional cooperation in the Pacific.

The honour was presented by Papua New Guinea Governor-General Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae at the State House yesterday.

The award recognises Mr Rabuka’s distinguished service in strengthening bilateral relations between Fiji and Papua New Guinea, as well as his leadership in advancing regional cooperation among Pacific nations.

In accepting the honour, Mr Rabuka thanked the Government and people of Papua New Guinea, particularly Prime Minister James Marape, for the recognition and hospitality extended to the Fiji delegation.

Mr Rabuka said the award reflected the longstanding friendship and shared Melanesian ties between the two countries.

“This honour is not mine alone, but one shared with the chiefs and the people of Fiji and all those who continue to work towards a stronger and more united Pacific family,” Mr Rabuka said.

He also reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Papua New Guinea and other Pacific Island nations on key regional priorities, including ocean governance, climate resilience, security, trade and sustainable development.

The Order of Logohu recognises individuals who have rendered distinguished service to Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific region.
