Batidegei eyes gold in Fiji Finals

Sacret Heart College’s Tavite Batidegei did not expect to win the Suva Zone Two senior boys 1500m final.
He outran last year’s champion with a time of 4:34.99s.
Running in the senior grade for the first time, Batidegei said he was surprised and now sets his focus to the Fiji Finals.

“I would like to thank my coach for helping me in my training and AFL Fiji for allowing my participation at this competition,” Batidegei said.
“I had minor injuries before the meet and sometimes I had no bus fare to go training.”
He acknowledges his coach for the guidance to be able to win his first gold medal.
“I now look forward to the Fiji finals and hope to win gold.”
The Suva Zone one continues today.
