Nine Clubs Feature In First Takayawa Cup
About nine clubs participated at the inaugural Takayawa Cup competition at the National Judo Centre in Nabua today.

About nine clubs participated at the inaugural Takayawa Cup competition at the National Judo Centre in Nabua today.
The competition was held in memory of judo great, Viliame Takayawa (senior) who pioneered the sport in Fiji.
Nabua judo club president Nemani Takayawa said they hope to hold the cup championship annually.

“After COVID-19, we there was an increase in the number of members and clubs,” he said.
“We’re trying to have regular competition to have members competing.
“We have a club travelling from Pacific Harbour while the rest are from Suva.
“Hopefully next year we can have a bigger one and gradually get overseas judokas over to join us,” he added.
Takayawa also confirmed that the judo team will not compete at this year’s Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands on November 17 to December 2.
