“We had 200 people registered to participate but we had about 150 at the start of the race,”
Among the runners was Tourism Fiji chief executive officer, Brent Hill.
“It’s been a big week and it’s fantastic to see the event happening again,” Hill said.
“It’s been a tough run on the hills and it’s a little different from Nadi where it is almost flat.”
Manley said they were grateful to Hill and the team from Nadi for coming over to support the event.
The Half Marathon race was won by Theo Dumanchin for the men’s while Annie Crookes for the women’s.
“The 10 kilometre race was more of a social run with many walking all the way,” Manley added as the race was won by Danny Douglas for the men’s while Brandy Yee was the first woman to reach the finishing line..
Manley confirmed that they are now putting together the calendar for next year’s races.
She said they are hoping to have the Suva Marathon in July and also the Namosi race is going on as well.
“We’re also working on a possible date for Pacific Harbour, which probably could be in December as well.”
