Players Name, Village And Province Embroidered On Jersey

The move by FIJI Water Flying Fijians head coach Simon Raiwalui for players to reconnect with the people and the vanua, has developed further.

The jerseys to be worn by the Flying Fijians now have the player’s name embroidered on it, along with the name of their village and province.

“It was one of the ideas I had regarding reconnection, who we are and where we are from? Raiwalui told SUNsports.

“When you represent your country, you represent all the players that pass before you, but just as important you represent your people and where you are from.

“It is an acknowledgment of where the player is from and the people that helped them get there.”
