Three Team Fiji lawn bowls athletes preparing for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games have been tested positive with COVID.

This was confirmed by team manager, Astral Smith.

They are expected to leave tomorrow with weightlifting, women’s sevens team, team manager Ajay Ballu and Wayne O’Connor.

“Team prep has been going well. Along with monthly team training, individuals have been committing to green and gym training for strengthening.

“We are gunning for medals and have high hopes for the team in attaining them,” Smith said.

There are ten athletes for Team Fiji lawn bowls. The women are; Sheryl Edwards (captain women) Litia Tikoisuva (co-captain), Radhika Prasad, Losalini Tukai and Loretta Kotoisuva.

Men’s team include; Semesa Naiseruvati (captain), David Aitcheson (co-captain), Martin Fong, Kushal Pillay and Rajnesh Prasad.

“If the three affected athletes cannot travel, we won’t be able to play certain disciplines so we are in process of filling an exemption form and filing for another test on Thursday (tomorrow) morning preflight,” she added.

The Commonwealth Games will start on July 28 to August 6.
