Toluono claims gold in sub junior boys discus

Winning gold in the sub junior boys discus throw was a pleasant surprise for Metusela Toluono.
The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School student did not train for the event and was not aware that his named was included in the list.
He threw a distance of 30.62 metres.
“I did not train for the discus but only trained for javelin and did not know that my name will be listed with discus participants,” he told SUNsports yesterday.
Toluono said that despite of the differences he was lucky to o be able to win the gold.
He said the experience competing in Fiji was different from Tuvalu.
“It’s a new environment of competition and this is the first time for me to participate; it’s tough,” he said.
Toluono said that his preparation was always a challenge.
He acknowledged the support of parents’ support and coaches.
His goal is to also win gold at the Fiji Finals.
