New schools join U19 cricket

Two news schools have joined the Fiji Secondary Schools Under-19 boys cricket competition when it got underway at Albert Park, Suva, on Saturday.
Speaking to SUNsports, Cricket Fiji development manager Joeli Mateyawa said they are Nasinu Secondary School and Lomary Secondary School.
“There 12 schools participation with Ratu Kadavulevu School as the defending champions,” he said.

“Some of the players who are playing for their schools have also represented the Fiji Under-19 team- there’s one playing for RKS while another is with William Cross College.”
Mateyawa said the competition is going to run for four weeks and during the first term holidays, they are going to run Nationals Under-19 tournament.
He said by playing cricket, it enables players to improve on their skills.

- John Wesley College beat Lami High School by 44 runs
- Tailevu North College beat Suva Grammar School by 9 wickets
- Nabua Secondary School beat Nasinu Secondary School by 28 runs
- Queen Victoria School beat John Wesley College by 4 wickets.
