Kabara ready to defend Super 8 title
Kabara claimed the inaugural title in 2024 after defeating Suva in the final, but team manager Jo Tukana expects another tough challenge this year.

Defending champions Kabara are determined to retain the Cricket Fiji Super 8 Championship title when the tournament begins next Tuesday at Albert Park in Suva.
Kabara claimed the inaugural title in 2024 after defeating Suva in the final, but team manager Jo Tukana expects another tough challenge this year.
“We know all the teams have been preparing well, so it will be challenging for us,” Tukana said.
“We’re not relying on being champions of both the Easter Cup and Super 8 because it’s a new year and every team has stepped up its preparations.”
Kabara headlines Pool A alongside Lakeba, Moce and Namuka, while Pool B features Suva, Nadi, Ono and Komo.
Tukana also welcomed Cricket Fiji’s new leadership.
“We acknowledge the changes brought in by the new management and would like to see Cricket Fiji achieve even bigger goals,” he said.
The five-day championship concludes on Saturday.
The eight teams qualified through the 2026 Easter Tournament.
Cricket Fiji chief executive officer Anushil Kumar said the return of the championship after a one-year break is a major boost for domestic cricket.
“We’re delighted to bring back the Super 8 Championship,” he said.
“We now have the country’s top eight teams ready to compete and we look forward to a great week of competition.
“We thank all our sponsor who have backed us to make this possible.”.
Pools:
Group A: Kabara, Lakeba, Moce, Namuka.
Group B: Suva, Nadi, Ono-i-Lau, Komo.
