The Sarafui Sinas are calling for more women to join their cricket team if they do not have a sport to play.
Team captain and national rep Hanisi Erasito said the development of women’s cricket in the country has grown the past few years.
She acknowledged Cricket Fiji for providing the platform through the women’s super league competition.

“We started around later December last year, and our start was quite slow because of the holiday season, school holidays, and most of our players are high school students. So whoever was available around Suva, we had called them, especially our cousins or families or friends, to join us,” Erasito said.
“It’s quite enjoyable to see that people who don’t have the skills will train and would like to participate in a minority sport.
“Our goal this season is to recruit more girls who are interested to play in this sport.”
She added most women are used to play in major sports including netball and rugby, however that does not stop them from playing the sport they love.
“Our goal was to try to get as much girls to join our team. And we’ll continue with that for the rest of the year. So anyone who’s interested and knows any of the players, please do contact us.”
She added since joining the women’s national team in 2021, there has been a lot of competitions locally and regionally.
“It’s still growing, I’m so happy that we just started with around eight, then it drastically dropped to six. Now I see more girls are coming in again.
“We’d like to see more talents all over Fiji, not only in Viti Levu, but also from the islands.”
